Northumberland Wind Field was created as a CEDIF:

  • to provide economic, social and environmental benefits to the community through construction of a renewable energy project
  • to provide an important source of capital for the company to complete construction
  • to provide a means for the community to become involved and have ownership of a renewable energy project
  • to increase the amount of capital reinvested in Nova Scotia

NWF is providing community supported wind energy:

  • Local Generation: on Doliber Mountain in Avondale, Pictou County, Nova Scotia
  • Local Generation: on Fitzpatrick Mountain near Scotsburn, Pictou County, Nova Scotia
  • Local Use: electricity supplies homes and businesses in the local community
  • Local Economy: local services used, and municipal taxes are paid
